Press Kit

Sandra SG Wong (she/her) holds a B.A.(Honours) in English Literature from the University of Alberta. She speaks four languages at varying levels of proficiency and usually only curses in one of them. An active member of Crime Writers of Color, she is also a member of The Writers Union of Canada, the Writers’ Guild of Alberta, and International Thriller Writers. In addition, as a Sisters in Crime member, she served as President (2020-21) and founded the DEIJB Advisory Committee and served as its inaugural Chair.

Wong's debut novel, DIE ON YOUR FEET, was originally published under the pen name SG Wong in 2013 as an ebook, by Carina Press. It was a finalist for the Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence for Best Crime First Novel. Having parted ways amicably with Carina Press, Wong publishes the Lola Starke series independently. IN FOR A POUND was longlisted for a 2016 Whistler Independent Book Award. Both it and DEVIL TAKE THE HINDMOST are Library Journal SELF-e selections. Her second Crescent City short story, “Movable Type,” was a finalist for the Crime Writers of Canada Awards of Excellence for Best Short Story. Wong's standalone psychological thriller, IN THE DARK WE FORGET, is a national bestseller and an Anthony Awards finalist.

Wong has been a speaker and presenter at such disparate events as comics expos, literary festivals, mystery conventions, library workshops, as well as craft and publishing seminars (Full listing available here.) In 2017, she inaugurated the Capital City Press initiative for the Edmonton Public Library as its first-ever Featured Writer. She lives in Edmonton, Alberta, on Treaty Six land, with her family.
